For Algebra 2 this semester, we have been covering a variety of topics, including functions. A month or two ago, we were given the project of creating a "dance" video concerning functions and transformations. I did this project with Kaili Sato, and since it was only the two of us, the workload was able to be equally spread out. The video's point was to communicate our understanding of functions (quadratic, linear, cubic, etc.) and their transformations (their movement from the parent function on a graph), and we did this through the movement of our arms. While it wasn't necessarily dancing, the movement was set to music, so I guess that counts in a way. What made this project hard was that we started it a month and a half after covering the topic. By the time we started it, I had trouble remembering how to set up some functions. After some trial and error, though, we were able to figure it out. The video was filmed in various places/parks up in Wailuku and put together in iMovie. We used our communication skills through the non-conventional style of "dance" and text on a screen, while interpersonal skills were used the manage the idea and video development between the two of us. The project all together was interesting and a good way to reinforce a certain topic, as well as something I would not like to do again in the future because of embarrassment.
